The Challenge: Where We Started

This case study documents a seven-month engagement with a Singapore physiotherapy practice running two clinics, one in Central and one in the East. People rarely search for "physiotherapy" on its own. They search for what hurts ("lower back pain physio", "frozen shoulder treatment", "ACL rehab Singapore") or for a clinic near them. Physiotherapy content is also health advice, which Google holds to a higher standard of trust, so pages need a qualified person behind them and careful claims about results.

The practice had a short website with one Services page and one page on sports physiotherapy. The team was shown in a group photo with no names or qualifications. Only the Central clinic had a Google Business Profile, so the East clinic was missing from Maps. Patients often called to ask about costs, referrals and insurance claims because the site did not cover them. The online booking widget was not tracked, and organic search brought in 18 bookings a month across both clinics.

What We Did

Phase 1 · Month 1

Audit, Search Mapping and Booking Tracking

We set up GA4 conversions for completed bookings in the online booking system, call clicks and WhatsApp clicks, each tagged by clinic. We mapped searches into three groups: conditions (back pain, neck pain, knee pain, frozen shoulder), treatments and rehab (sports injury rehab, post-surgery rehab, manual therapy) and location searches around each clinic. We tracked 16 local terms, eight per clinic.

Tracking completed bookings rather than page visits gave the practice a clear measure of what SEO was worth. The search map showed that most patients describe a symptom, so the content plan was built around conditions first.

Phase 2 · Months 1-4

Condition and Treatment Pages

We wrote 16 new pages, bringing the total to 18, for the conditions and treatments the practice sees most: lower back pain, neck pain, frozen shoulder, knee pain, ankle sprains, runner's knee, ACL injury and rehab after ACL reconstruction, rehab after knee and hip replacement, and sports injury assessment. Each page explains the condition in plain language, when to see a physiotherapist and when to see a doctor first, what the first assessment involves, and what a treatment plan usually includes. Pages describe the number of sessions as a range that depends on the person, and none promise a cure.

Patients search by symptom, and Google rewards pages that answer the exact question clearly and responsibly. Careful wording about outcomes and clear advice on when to see a doctor are what health content needs to be trusted, by Google and by patients.

Phase 3 · Months 2-4

Physiotherapist Bios and Clinical Review

We created a bio page for each of the seven physiotherapists with their degree, where they trained, years in practice, areas of interest and postgraduate courses completed. We only listed qualifications the practice could document. Every condition page shows "Reviewed by" with the reviewing physiotherapist's name and the review date, and links to their bio.

Google's quality guidelines ask who is responsible for health content and whether they are qualified. Named physiotherapists with clear training answered that question. The bios also became some of the most viewed pages before a booking, as patients choose who they want to see.

Phase 4 · Months 2-5

Location Pages and a Business Profile per Clinic

We verified a Google Business Profile for the East clinic and rebuilt the Central one. Each profile has its own phone number, opening hours, the physiotherapy category, photos of the treatment rooms and a link to its own location page. The two location pages cover directions from the nearest MRT station, parking, which physiotherapists work at each clinic and the conditions each clinic sees most, with Physiotherapy schema for each location. Patients received a review link by SMS after their third session, with no incentive offered.

A clinic without a profile cannot appear in the map pack, and most patients choose a clinic close to home or work. Separate profiles, location pages and reviews for each clinic took the practice from 2 to 13 of its 16 tracked local terms.

Phase 5 · Months 3-7

Cost, Referral and Insurance FAQs

We wrote a fees page with session prices in S$ for each type of appointment, and FAQ pages answering what patients asked most by phone: whether a doctor's referral is needed, what to bring to the first session, how to claim from corporate or personal insurance, and what to check with an insurer before booking. Each page explains the general process and tells patients to confirm their own cover with their insurer, without promising that any claim will be approved.

Cost and claims questions come right before a booking. Answering them on the site removed a step that had sent patients to the phone or to another clinic, and the pages ranked for searches that competitors left unanswered.

What Made Physiotherapy SEO Different

Physiotherapy sits between health advice and a local service. These four points shaped the work.

Patients search by symptom

Few people search for "physiotherapy" on its own. They describe what hurts. Condition pages matched those searches and became the main way new patients found the practice.

Health content needs careful claims

Every page was reviewed by a named physiotherapist, described outcomes as ranges that depend on the person, and said when to see a doctor first. That is what Google and patients expect from health advice.

Two clinics, two maps

Each clinic competes for patients nearby. A separate Business Profile, location page and reviews for each one took the practice from 2 to 13 of its 16 tracked local terms.

Cost and insurance questions come before booking

Patients wanted to know fees, whether they needed a referral and how to claim before they booked. Answering those questions on the site turned more visits into bookings.

Key Takeaways

Build your content around the conditions patients search for, not just the services you offer. A clear page for each common condition, reviewed by a named physiotherapist, will reach far more people than a single Services page.

Be careful with health claims. Explain what treatment usually involves, describe the number of sessions as a range, and say when a patient should see a doctor first. Responsible content earns trust from Google and from patients.

If you run more than one clinic, give each one its own Business Profile, location page and reviews. Then answer cost and insurance questions on your site, because they are often the last thing a patient checks before booking.

Physiotherapy SEO: Common Questions

Write a clear page for each condition you treat, reviewed by a named physiotherapist, and give each clinic its own Google Business Profile and location page. Answer cost and referral questions on your site and collect reviews steadily. On this project, bookings from organic search grew from 18 to 63 a month.

Yes. Most patients search by symptom or injury rather than for physiotherapy in general. A dedicated page for each common condition can rank for those searches and explain what treatment involves, which a single Services page cannot do.

Have a named, qualified physiotherapist write or review each page and show their name, training and the review date. Explain treatment in plain language, describe outcomes as ranges, avoid promising results, and say when someone should see a doctor first.

Local improvements such as a verified Business Profile can show within weeks. Condition pages usually take two to four months to rank well. On this project, bookings from organic rose from 18 to 41 a month by month 5 and reached 63 by month 7.
